The Music Video Shootout 2006 is in the can! [21 Mar 2006|05:05pm]
I'm so blown away by everyone's hard work to achieve total success on the Music Video Shootout. Putting something together as huge as this project was, and knowing that we pulled it off is the greatest feeling in the world.

I was so impressed by the music video entries. Everyone used the 24 hours very wisely and were so organized that no one failed to complete their video on time.

One of the greatest rewards to making movies is getting to meet and work with other filmmakers, which I met many new people and will work with them again in the future. I'm very proud of the stickmen. For all of the training sessions and planning over the past few months really paid off. All of the stickmen were very prepared and willing to put everything they had into it. I learned so many new things from our creative stickman crew. We went out there like professionals and got the job done, way beyond anyone's expectations.

Sunday, after the whole thing was over, and we came home after breaking down the stage and packing up our gear, we were all kind of shocked and in disbelief. I felt like I was caught in a whirlwind and flung miles away to a very quiet, safe, and warm home. I felt the same way I did after shooting Unhinged in Idaho and Airband, sad that it's over. Like coming home after a long camping trip with lots of great people.

Claire and I talked about the great day we had on Saturday and how much of an epic adventure it seemed. That night we watched Wallace & Gromit: Curse Of The Were-Rabbit and a few Cheers episodes and worried about nothing at all. It was so easy to finally sleep.

Words from JD Frey: "I got home and tried to get into bed, and so many emotions washed over me I felt like I was going to cry but couldn't. I think my circuits were overloaded. I've done some intense things in my life, but that was the most intense thing I've ever done."

Words from William Boxx: "It was like the end of a really great movie or TV series. All this time invested and you can’t believe it is over. Not that it is totally over, but you know, the main portion. I just lay on the couch and was confused. I really didn’t know what to do. SO I just watched The Simpsons and fell asleep during Family Guy."

It's funny that we all found solace in watching animation afterwards. JD told me later that he also watched The Simpsons and Corpse Bride in order to stop thinking about the whole experience being over.

We accumulated over 75 hours of footage and now we begin Stage 3: Editing. I loved working with everyone so much that I'm looking forward to the next stage.

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us!

There's so much more to say about the whole experience, but I'll save it for the next episode of the podcast. Take a look at the site to see the list of winners and also the newspaper articles.

Air Band DVD -- finished. [20 Jan 2006|05:25pm]
I've finally finished authoring the Air Band DVD. About two months of hard work was put into it and it's finally ready for production. I can't wait to let the world see our creation!

Oh yeah, IMDB takes forever to update, but they have finally updated the entire cast of Air Band. Take a look.

This week I've been editing promos to show to the Film Co-op. I made a really cool promo/trailer for our 48 Hour movie contest entry, "Unhinged in Idaho" from 2004. Also I made a very short behind-the-scenes look at the video game sequence that we did for "Pass The Wand to the Left Hand Side" last year. This piece shows how we used the green screen to achieve the "live action" look. I can't wait to show these off.

From one Park to another [11 Jan 2006|01:24pm]
Palladia moved from Perimeter Park to Corporate Park here in Huntsville. Yesterday was the last moving day and we're all settled in the new place. Everyone has their own office now. No more cubicles. I'm going to fix up my office really nice, splash some Bruce Campbell pics and toys throughout, some Nintendo posters and some X-10 modules. My office will be like a funhouse.

Last Sunday I attended my first Film Co-op meeting at the Flying Monkey. It was way cool meeting other filmmakers. I finally got to meet [info]seamusmoon, although I didn't realize who he was until the end of the meeting. I showed everyone a few music videos that I made and talked about the Shootout. I wished the meeting was longer, I didn't have enough time to talk to everyone, especially [info]seamusmoon (we'll talk more next time).

Claire and I just finished watching Season 1 of "Lost" and wow. We love it. Tonight we're going to start watching Season 2. Did anyone see the Bonus Disc from the Season 1 DVD set? There's so much that they cover. I can't believe that they wrote the entire Pilot episode in less than a month and shipped an actual widebody plane across the ocean for use on the set. I have lots of respect for J.J. Abrams, he really has it together.

Christmas was swell [30 Dec 2005|09:11pm]
Christmas was fun this year. Mainly because I got to spend it with Claire in our house for the first time. We got a tree, decorations and stockings. It was grand.

Claire got me lots of things, one of which was a black video iPod which I love. I walk around the house now with headphones on, listening to Bruce Campbell interviews, podcasts, and cheesy eurodance. How did I get along without it all these years? I got Claire an MP3 head-unit with XM Radio for her car. We both gave music devices to each other, wierd huh? Music is good, it's a good thing to share.

Speaking of music... Our big project, Music Video Shootout 2006 is finally ready to promote. The website is launched and we have been busy posting on local msg boards to let the word out to musicians. We have 1000 flyers to litter Huntsville with and we'll be on the rampage until we find a winner.

On an unrelated topic, Claire got a NintendoDS today. Now we can play multiplayer games! I reactivated my GameFly account so now it's on.

Christmas Bonus [17 Dec 2005|02:12pm]
Yesterday I got 3 paychecks! That's a month and a half's worth of pay. It's not exactly a Christmas bonus, but a little backpay doesn't hurt.

It is now time to buy some tires and begin my Christmas shopping. I may stop by Toys'R'Us today to see the The 501st Legion.

Rescue Me [15 Dec 2005|02:49pm]
Yesterday I noticed that my tires were dangerously worn out so I refused to drive anywhere until I got new tires. The tires I need are pretty expensive and I'll have to order them online. I came up with the idea of taking the wheels off of my other car and putting them on my main car. After hours of removing wheels and breaking tools I discover that the wheels didn't fit so I performed an undo (CTRL+Z), and put everything back the way it was. Luckily Darrell came by and helped. Thanks dude!

Later that day I got an email invoice to renew my website. My webhost account is setup to automatically bill every year. My card was declined for $90. D'oh! This was a direct result of not getting paid on time by my employer. I REALLY didn't want to lose the website so I asked all of the users of the site to pitch in some bucks to help pay for the account. It worked! In a matter of hours I'd raised $90. Yay!

Now I just need to worry about getting those tires.

AGI Studio Fame [12 Dec 2005|05:22pm]
Ding! I'm famous!
Well sorta...

I was recently approached by a journalist who is covering a story about classic Sierra games and those who are still keeping Sierra's legacy alive. He wants to interview me about my development of AGI Studio. The story will be printed in Retro Gamer magazine.

This is really great! Not only am I helping people realize their dreams of creating classic Sierra adventure games but I get to tell my story.

Long live Sierra!

Airband DVD Authoring [10 Dec 2005|07:41pm]
Tonight Darrell and I are working on finishing the Airband DVD, just in time for a little holiday manufacturing and distribution. This DVD has so many extras, in fact the movie to extras ratio is like [ 95% extras - 5% movie ]. Lots of banging for the bucking.

Oh, there's the doorbell, time to eat some pizza.

The New Format [08 Dec 2005|11:54am]
I'm just posting to say that I'm going to start posting again. My last post was in May 2003, much has happened since but I will not try to catch you up on it. Regardless of who is actually reading this, I will only write about things that are going on with me. I will not be posting news articles, links to websites, or anything that doesn't pertain to me. The purpose of this journal is not to entertain others. This is the format I've chosen. It may sound cold, it may sound selfish, and you know what? IT IS!

The reason I haven't posted in years is because I couldn't think of a clear format. I wasn't sure of the intent of this journal and that confusion lead me to over anyalyse the content before posting and thus editing myself into oblivion. Enough about that.

Ye ol Klatsch [22 May 2003|02:38am]
I've been so busy with post-production of our movie lately, that I haven't had much time to read LiveJournal, much less time to post. The deadline for the Sidewalk Film Festival is June 1st. We'll have a good bit of it done by then, but we'll continue to work on it after the 1st and get it exactly how we want it for the premiere here in Huntsville at the Lowe Mill. There will also be a showing at Vinyl later this summer.

I always seem to make time to go out on the weekends though. I spent the entire weekend at the Kaffeeklatsch, and since my new camera is small enough to fit in my shirt pocket, I'd be stupid not to take it everywhere. So I took lots of pictures on Friday and Saturday night.

Friday night was a huge gathering of close friends, old friends I haven't seen in a while, and brand new friends and ending the night at IHOP. On Saturday night, Slow Roasted played at the Klatsch. Indeed another great night filled with music and friends, ending the night with games of poker and a weird experience involving ice trays, then it was off to Wafflehouse. Slow Roasted rocked, and I hope they play again at the Klatsch!

I think it's cool that the LJ Meetup is finally going to be at the Klatsch, I'll be there for sure.

I shot lots of video of both nights too, I couldn't help myself.

My new toy [07 May 2003|06:25pm]
I got a new camera yesterday and man I love it. It's so tiny. I'll take it everywhere, I'll hug it and squeeze it and call it George.

It's the size of a credit card.

Here's my silver trio. See? It fits right in with the others.

You can shoot video with it too. See me in action.

The ground was a rumblin' [29 Apr 2003|01:55pm]
Wow, I felt my first earthquake last night. I didn't know it was an earthquake until I read everyone's LJ post about it. I'm glad it was an earthquake and not a bomb. Here's my story:

It's 5am or so and I'm sleeping in my bed. I immediately wake up as I felt the bed jerk from side to side very rapidly. Then it suddenly switched to a slow wobble. At first it felt exactly like a cat jumped on my bed and then started swaying back and forth. Realizing that I don't have any pets, I quickly decided that it must be a REALLY BIG rat or something. I frantically run my hand through the covers, trying to feel for a large rodent or any other foreign object that didn't belong in my bed. Of course, I didn't find anything. I was really really confused, and quickly ran out of ideas. I think I even let out a "Hello? Is someone there?". Then I thought, maybe this is a dream. So my head fell back and hit the pillow and I fell asleep.

That was my first earthquake experience.

More stuff for my pockets please! [28 Apr 2003|02:58pm]
Another weekend flew by, and me without a car that works. Thankfully, [info]drunkitty picked me up on Friday and took me to Vinyl. It was kind of a slow night, but I had tons of funs. I got to have a long conversation with Danny C, had a Jager shot with him, and later while he was spinning, I slipped him love notes written on napkins. At first he thought they were from some hot chick. Nope, just me.

Saturday night I just stayed home and played video games (I'm so close to beating Zelda), I guess I could've gone out, but I needed to get up early on Sunday and do some outdoor manual labor type activities.

When I was at the club Friday night, I was REALLY missing my digital camera. Most times I leave it at home because it's too heavy and bulky. I need a camera that can fit in my shirt pocket, and with a rechargeable battery. I've found what I'm looking for, it's my dream camera and I'm going to get one before the weekend. Check it out, it's tiny and it's 3.2 megapixels!

I will take pictures of EVERYTHING because I will have my camera in my pocket at ALL TIMES!

Let's see, here's the rundown of things I have in my pockets at all times:
- Wallet
- Keys
- Cellphone
- Gameboy Advance SP

I used to keep a PDA in my pocket but had to make room for my gameboy. I suppose a camera could fit in my shirt pocket, no problem. Perhaps I should consider a Man-purse.

It's good to be king [21 Apr 2003|09:52am]
Saturday night I ended up staying home. I watched a movie, played some video games and ate pizza. One exciting thing DID happen with my only interaction with another human. As I called Dominoes to order a pizza and some Chicken Kickers... well, here's how the conversation went:

me: I wanna get one of your special deal thingies, it's the pizza with the chicken kickers for 16 bucks.
pizza girl: Okay, which three toppings would you like?
me: um, pepperoni, sausage and bacon.
pizza girl: which type of crust would you like?
me: Original, er, uh, regular, or whatever the default is I guess.
pizza girl: (chuckles) Ok, is that all for your order?
me: Oh wait, can you put two hot sauces in with the kickers instead of the Ranch?
pizza girl: (pause) Oh wow. (she says in a slow, sexy manner, as something has impressed her beyond recognition)
me: huh?
pizza girl: Most people substitute the hot sauce for two Ranches. Impressive!
me: Oh... yeah... (laugh) I can take it!

Made me feel like a king.

Still No Ride [18 Apr 2003|08:03pm]
Stranded at home, without a car. My only entertainment are my video games, and reading about the fun I'm missing at Phantasm on LJ.

Oh woe is me.

No ride [16 Apr 2003|10:15pm]
It's a really good thing that I'm in the middle of playing the new Zelda on the Gamecube, Dot Hack and Breath of Fire for the Playstation2, and Golden Sun for the GameboyAdvance, because my car is still broken and my loaner car just expired yesterday. So I'm stuck here playing video games forever. I'm a junky and I love it.

It works! It works! [09 Apr 2003|09:45pm]
I got my DVD burner in the mail today! Woohoo! Immediately I ran to my computer and yanked out my CD burner and tossed the DVD burner in. I popped in "The Evil Dead" and it just started playing. Okay so it plays DVDs, that's a good sign. Then the next test was to start copying Playstation 2 games. So I ran (or drove really fast) to Staples and bought a bunch of blank DVDs and then went to Blockbuster and rented a bunch of games and then raced home to start copying them. After copying the first one I was really nervous, I figured all of this time and money spent, and something will go wrong. Guess what? Everything works! Free games from here on out!

Still waiting for my package... [08 Apr 2003|05:21pm]
When ordering something from Hong Kong, make sure you don't specify that you want an overnight shipment. Your ordering instructions will either be ignored or badly translated into "we'll ship it when we feel like it".

Awesome Friday night, ready to do it again [05 Apr 2003|03:37pm]
I had a great Friday night. I got to eat at "Le Bistro" downtown, good food, just really expensive. They have an import beer, "John Courage", and it's pretty potent, but I was "brave" enough to drink two of them (which feels like drinking six normal beers).

Then I met up with some non-lj'er friends at the Klatsch, then headed to Vinyl. I hung out at the bar for a while talking to [info]drunkitty and [info]turbopunk. Try saying "drunkitty" 10 times fast, doesn't it sound like a car that won't start? Anyway, I drank and drank and had a good time. Got a small glimpse of [info]breekola just before running into [info]mscynicism who drove me around town to various people's abodes. One of them being [info]naynay's house. I never got that tour of your house... maybe next time. So it was a pretty full night, met alot of people. However trying to remember everyone's name has proven to be difficult, BUT I never forget a face.

I'm going to Vinyl tonight with an even bigger crowd and I hope to see lots of LJ'ers there. Man, I'm so addicted to meeting new people. I'm on a roll.
